Information Design Project
Students are introduced to information design and data visualization through this project. After collecting data on a topic of their choice, students designed a collection of visuals that interpret that data in different ways, and finally designed a publication that combines their visualizations and a corresponding piece of text.

Collections Project
A freeform design project that begins with an exploration of what documentation means, and how to find forms that feel authentic to content. Students first identified a collection (of items, writing, memories etc) to spend time documenting, and then created a design form in which to house and represent that collection.

Design Research and Writing
This project serves to introduce students to design research and writing and consider how that integrates with a design practice. Through a series of shortform writing promopts, students identified a designer to spend an extended period of time researching, and wrote at length about that designer’s impact on the discipline of design, and the historical or social contexts they designed in. Students made connections to their own practices, and published their essays in a collaborative zine.
